Brighid, the designation most commonly used for our "Pegaso Rojo," as El Rey likes to say, is the Celtic goddess of fire and water. Considering the feisty, energetic nature this individual seems to portray as opposed to Camalus and Ibormeith, I can imagine the fire part...just not the water. The fire part is the reason for the designation, though, because Brighid is brindled with the color of burning embers and has a flaxen mane and tail which remind some of yellow flame licking the sky, once in the morning, and once in the evening.
In some ways, I would say a god or goddess of the sun would be a better choice for a namesake, but that's only my personal opinion. Brighid is the name which stuck, and it will continue to stick until we actually now a little more about our red pegasus. |
